General Industries Ltd (GiL) first commenced operations in the year 1972. Initially, General Industries Ltd (GiL) started off by manufacturing paper cores for the textile and packaging industries, composite cans and a number of injection–moulded and extruded plastic products.

In the year 1996, General Industries Ltd (GiL) diversified its operations and ventured into manufacturing of uPVC pipes as we had gained sufficient experience through injection moulding machines over the years. General Industries Ltd (GiL) quickly established a name and a sufficient market share for ourselves in this highly competitive industry both in the East African region and COMESA countries in no time under the brand name of "GIL" due to our unmatched attention to detail in quality and our customer service.
